This Thursday, Part 2 Of The Blank media Collective’s Projector SeriesBlank Media Collective’s brand new project transforms unexpected spaces in Manchester’s favourite venues Projector II: Sandbar
Mid-season event - 16th August 2012 from 6pm – FREE Projector II at Sandbar is home to the video strand of the BMC Projector Series. On 16th August BMC collaborates at Sandbar with Video Jam for an experimental night of short film combined with accompanying live musical performance. Each film is paired with a musician/sound artist with the intention of providing an original soundtrack. What results is a ‘blind collaboration’ of sorts, the film maker and musician remaining anonymous to one another throughout the process. Join us for a night of unexpected collaboration and bring an instrument to get involved! As part of an ambitious summer of programming, Manchester-based Blank Media Collective brings you BMC Projector Series – a program of exhibitions featuring contemporary artists from across the UK in collaboration with creative spaces all over the city. Screens have been installed around the venue in sympathy to its interior architecture resulting in a captivating yet discreet exhibition of moving image works. Each work has been chosen for its silent, mesmeric quality which does not require devoted viewings but has the potential to draw you in or begs for repeated visits. VIDEO: Jessica Ball, Matt Smith, and group work by: Stephanie Imbeau, David Foggo, Stuart Jones and John Maclean The three works on show until September are: Kaleidoscope by Jessica Ball Paper Lanterns by Matthew Smith, and All Together / All Alone by Stephanie Imbeau, David Foggo, Stuart Jones and John Maclean. Film Tube is back… Tomorrow in your face with wonder…

Yup.  That’s right.  Film Tube slinks back into sandbar with it’s rugged, haphazard style which some of you are familiar with.  What is Film Tube you may ask?  Film Tube is a video/animation/clip/film event without the fuss or prestige of film screenings.  Don’t like what’s on?  Talk to your mates.  Heckle the screen.  Film Tube is NOT a cinema experience, and it embraces that fact.

What can you expect to be screened?  Well here’s a list of somethings which we have screened before:

If these things tickle your fancy pop down tomorrow (Wednesday 30th, 8pm) to catch the new show reel.  Film Tube runs the last Wednesday of every month!  Check out it’s (out of date but soon to be updated) blog here.

Friday Featured Artist: TOM CHIMIAK

The humdrum of the week days begin to come to a close, the weekend is in sight, and it’s time for another Friday Featured Artist.

Some of you may have clocked a post which I put up a while ago
.  The post was of a video about Manchester and the Manchester School Of Samba.  It was an excellent piece of work which displayed imagery of the city beaitifully choreographed with the drumming of MSS.  If you not seen it yet, make sure you do.  It was created by a Mr. Tom Chimiak.

Tom, a 2nd year student from Staffordshire University studying Experimental Film Production, is primarily a film maker and photographer.  As he pointed out himself, Tom’s portfolio is currently on the smaller side due to the fact he’s only just begun building up a body of work, so be sure to have a look through and keep tabs on the chap for new projects!

You can find Tom’s video portfolio here, and his photography portfolio here.  Plus you can also stalk him here.

If you would like to submit your work for a possible feature on the website please email sandbar_manchester@live.com with a link to your online portfolio along with a 10 - 50 word description of yourself and/or your body of work.
