On The Flags continues tomorrow with a set from The Freedom Principle led by efpi Record’s  Anton Hunter and Ben Cottrell.

So, pop on down tomorrow at 8, chuff down that whiskey and do a bit o’ music basking.

Couldn’t find a clip of the chaps playing together but have a looky at on of Mr. Ben Cottrell’s collaborations above.  It won’t be like that though.  As sandbar is a tad smaller.

Live Musics In Your Earbox, At Sandbar Throughout September! The summer is over, the hum of the student mobs approaching echos in the streets, and in several days buses holding smiling, Corona wielding promo plebs will be hammering the streets with club music from 10 years ago.BUT DO NOT DESPAIR my dear, dear strangers.  For with September the rest of Manchester fully comes back to life.  Artists crawl out their bohemian holes, publican houses and strange bars breathe a sight of relief upon surviving the lull of summer and musicians cease to pick strange matter from their navels to write a song about it.So what, I hear you not ask, is going on at sandbar?  Well, as we march back into life again we welcome the Autumn months back with large smattering of musical antics.  Every Wednesday you will find Busking Ballads within our walls with blues and folk along with the occasional brave open mic peep.We have the return of Bexley Square Blues Night headed by Mr. Later Slater this Saturday along with Brewed In Britain the following Tuesday hosted by The Manchester Label bring with them an accompaniment some of the best unsigned bands. And last, but not least we have our new event On The Flags, a regular irregular event where a musician is welcomed into sandbar’s arms and showcased in the main bar area.  And what’s this - the FIRST ONE IS TONIGHT with the talented and renown Mr. Zacc Rogers, followed next week by the Freedom Principle Trio the following Thursday to celebrate their return.Phew… that is allot of stuff.- Dom Harbot, Events Manager

Live Musics In Your Earbox, At Sandbar Throughout September!

The summer is over, the hum of the student mobs approaching echos in the streets, and in several days buses holding smiling, Corona wielding promo plebs will be hammering the streets with club music from 10 years ago.

BUT DO NOT DESPAIR my dear, dear strangers.  For with September the rest of Manchester fully comes back to life.  Artists crawl out their bohemian holes, publican houses and strange bars breathe a sight of relief upon surviving the lull of summer and musicians cease to pick strange matter from their navels to write a song about it.

So what, I hear you not ask, is going on at sandbar?  Well, as we march back into life again we welcome the Autumn months back with large smattering of musical antics.

Every Wednesday you will find Busking Ballads within our walls with blues and folk along with the occasional brave open mic peep.

We have the return of Bexley Square Blues Night headed by Mr.

Zacc Rogers, followed next week by the Freedom Principle Trio the following Thursday to celebrate their return.

Phew… that is allot of stuff.

This Thursday, Part 2 Of The Blank media Collective’s Projector SeriesBlank Media Collective’s brand new project transforms unexpected spaces in Manchester’s favourite venues Projector II: Sandbar
Mid-season event - 16th August 2012 from 6pm – FREE Projector II at Sandbar is home to the video strand of the BMC Projector Series. On 16th August BMC collaborates at Sandbar with Video Jam for an experimental night of short film combined with accompanying live musical performance. Each film is paired with a musician/sound artist with the intention of providing an original soundtrack. What results is a ‘blind collaboration’ of sorts, the film maker and musician remaining anonymous to one another throughout the process. Join us for a night of unexpected collaboration and bring an instrument to get involved! As part of an ambitious summer of programming, Manchester-based Blank Media Collective brings you BMC Projector Series – a program of exhibitions featuring contemporary artists from across the UK in collaboration with creative spaces all over the city. Screens have been installed around the venue in sympathy to its interior architecture resulting in a captivating yet discreet exhibition of moving image works. Each work has been chosen for its silent, mesmeric quality which does not require devoted viewings but has the potential to draw you in or begs for repeated visits. VIDEO: Jessica Ball, Matt Smith, and group work by: Stephanie Imbeau, David Foggo, Stuart Jones and John Maclean The three works on show until September are: Kaleidoscope by Jessica Ball Paper Lanterns by Matthew Smith, and All Together / All Alone by Stephanie Imbeau, David Foggo, Stuart Jones and John Maclean. Projector I & III are located at The Salutation Inn (12 HigherChatham Street, M15 6ED) and The Kings Arms (11 Bloom St, Salford, M3 6AN)

Taylor and the Mason Music Video Release

Chances are, if you are a keen consumer of the musical scene and whatnottery of Manchester, you would have witness these two bloody awesome musicians already.  If not… shame.  On.  You.

Just a few weeks ago sandbar had the pleasure of hosting Taylor and the Mason’s video launch.  With a night of music, wonder, a quite heavy cover of one of their songs by another band as well as something about vegetables and genitalia, the girls unleashed their new music video upon the crowds… and now tis online for your fine view pleasure!

If you haven’t seen them live already I heatedly advise you do as soon as you can.  Infact, if you are popping down to Band On The Wall’s birthday tomorrow I believe you will catch them performing there… around 7pm I had whispered to me.

Can’t make it?  Join up to their Facebook group to find out upcoming dates.
