Featured Artist: Adam Cadwell
Well, tis been a time since we’ve done a featured artist… and it’s not Friday but… well, it’s 2013 and here’s a splendid illustrator in your face.
Practising in the medium of illustration, Adam Cadwell works as a professional storyboard artist and and cartoonist. Residing with Manchester, Adam alongside Marc Elleby founded Great Beast Comics, a creator owned self publishing house.
Adam’s own work outside of commissions included The Everyday (a series revolving around Adam’s own social encounters, escapades and, at times, delusions) and more recently a new series entitled Blood Blokes - a dark humour story about a group of slacker vampires.
Clicky and checky his site here. There has also been a series of limited edition prints recently and a little bird told me (aka my twitter feed) that there’s only eight prints left for sale. If you’re interested clicky here.
If you’d like to apply to be a featured artist on our site send your work through to me at events@sandbarmanchester.co.uk.

Friday Featured Artist: Yotam Perel
How are you today person that I most probably do not know?
Really?
Hmmm.
Yes.
Ok. That’s enough about you. Well, me… I’m feeling quite disparaged with life. No, no. No sympathy please. The one ounce of comfort I take, like so many other disappointed humanists, is from the smatterings of dark humour to be found here and there. One fine example is Israeli flash animator Yotam Perel.
Although his animation perhaps isn’t as technically accomplished as some of his peers, Yotam’s dark humour and at time bizarre stories cannot help you laugh… then perhaps cry a bit inside. Whether it be a song to celebrate his 18th birthday… and to commiserate about Israel’s army recruitment policy, the seedy underbelly of hentai flash games or his animated versions of people’s blog entries (be sure to turn on subtitles… unless you speak Hebrew already). Interested in more? Check out his youtube channel here.

Friday Featured Artist: BEN ROBINS
It’s a beautiful, hot, sunny day outside… and I’m stuck in this dang office. So, lucky for me Friday Featured Artist is the next job on my list so I get to pluck out another lucky practitioner to thrust into your face.
This week we feature graphics artist and photographer Ben Robins. Ben’s focus is that of landscape and portraiture with elements of photo manipulation. His subjects range from model shoots, band photography, including working with the likes of Louis Barabbaras & The Bedlam Six.
He has a website here, which is still under development, thus in the meantime you can also access his FlickR account here to view a more indepth portfolio. If you are interested in Ben’s work or wish to commission for a project you can contact him via benrobins1@googlemail.com.

Friday Featured Artist: TOM CHIMIAK
The humdrum of the week days begin to come to a close, the weekend is in sight, and it’s time for another Friday Featured Artist.
Some of you may have clocked a post which I put up a while ago. The post was of a video about Manchester and the Manchester School Of Samba. It was an excellent piece of work which displayed imagery of the city beaitifully choreographed with the drumming of MSS. If you not seen it yet, make sure you do. It was created by a Mr. Tom Chimiak.
Tom, a 2nd year student from Staffordshire University studying Experimental Film Production, is primarily a film maker and photographer. As he pointed out himself, Tom’s portfolio is currently on the smaller side due to the fact he’s only just begun building up a body of work, so be sure to have a look through and keep tabs on the chap for new projects!
You can find Tom’s video portfolio here, and his photography portfolio here. Plus you can also stalk him here.

Friday Featured Artist: JESS MARSHALL
It’s Friday and we turn the spotlight once again to another artist, this time one by the name of Jess Marshall. Jess is an illustrator studying currently at MMU. Allot of her work has a quirky, subtle humour (if you were going to ask me I’d say it’s Napoleon Dynamitey in it’s humour. Yes, I did an MA so I could say that).
Jess also works on band posters and events. She is also looking for other artists, collectives, bands, promoters and the like to work with. Check out more of her portfolio at www.jessmarshall.co.uk and give her a bell if the notion tickles your fancy.
If you would like to submit your work for a possible feature on the website please email sandbar_manchester@live.com with a link to your online portfolio along with a 10 - 50 word description of yourself and/or your body of work.
