Live Musics In Your Earbox, At Sandbar Throughout September! The summer is over, the hum of the student mobs approaching echos in the streets, and in several days buses holding smiling, Corona wielding promo plebs will be hammering the streets with club music from 10 years ago.BUT DO NOT DESPAIR my dear, dear strangers.  For with September the rest of Manchester fully comes back to life.  Artists crawl out their bohemian holes, publican houses and strange bars breathe a sight of relief upon surviving the lull of summer and musicians cease to pick strange matter from their navels to write a song about it.So what, I hear you not ask, is going on at sandbar?  Well, as we march back into life again we welcome the Autumn months back with large smattering of musical antics.  Every Wednesday you will find Busking Ballads within our walls with blues and folk along with the occasional brave open mic peep.We have the return of Bexley Square Blues Night headed by Mr. Later Slater this Saturday along with Brewed In Britain the following Tuesday hosted by The Manchester Label bring with them an accompaniment some of the best unsigned bands. And last, but not least we have our new event On The Flags, a regular irregular event where a musician is welcomed into sandbar’s arms and showcased in the main bar area.  And what’s this - the FIRST ONE IS TONIGHT with the talented and renown Mr. Zacc Rogers, followed next week by the Freedom Principle Trio the following Thursday to celebrate their return.Phew… that is allot of stuff.- Dom Harbot, Events Manager

Live Musics In Your Earbox, At Sandbar Throughout September!

The summer is over, the hum of the student mobs approaching echos in the streets, and in several days buses holding smiling, Corona wielding promo plebs will be hammering the streets with club music from 10 years ago.

BUT DO NOT DESPAIR my dear, dear strangers.  For with September the rest of Manchester fully comes back to life.  Artists crawl out their bohemian holes, publican houses and strange bars breathe a sight of relief upon surviving the lull of summer and musicians cease to pick strange matter from their navels to write a song about it.

So what, I hear you not ask, is going on at sandbar?  Well, as we march back into life again we welcome the Autumn months back with large smattering of musical antics.

Every Wednesday you will find Busking Ballads within our walls with blues and folk along with the occasional brave open mic peep.

We have the return of Bexley Square Blues Night headed by Mr.

Zacc Rogers, followed next week by the Freedom Principle Trio the following Thursday to celebrate their return.

Phew… that is allot of stuff.

The Fringe Continues!

The Greater Manchester Fringe Festival begins to approach it’s 3rd week with a slew of performances and wonder already having been displayed.  From the freestyle comedy at sandbar to the acclaimed live renditions of TV dramas and plays at the Lass O’ Gowrie - you really can say the first Greater Manchester Fringe Festival is in full swing.

Other hightlights include ‘The house that stank of death!’ over at Satan’s Hollow, a multimedia horror experience of various tales as well as the wide range of plays on offer at The Kings Arms including “Staffroom” (check out the video teaser above).

For full calendar and updates check out the GMFF website or join the GMFF facebook group.

So, bumbling around here again in the office with our acoustic night Busking Ballads going on underneath my feet when I hear a familiar sound.

Two girls, two guitars and heap of charisma.  Who else but Taylor and the Mason opening up our night of entertainment.  Quite a few people kept asking me who they were, so not only is this post for you but also for anyone who hasn’t heard of them before.  Check out their site here, and although their own pieces are fantastic I personally will always have a soft spot for their cover of MGMT’s “Kids”.  I also believe they have a new album released as well as an upcoming music video.  I approve.

What’s all that jazz?  Oh, tis Freedom Principle tonight with Gambol.

Yup.  Tonight.  Jazz.  8.30pm.  Gambol with Chris Mapp.  Pop over here to listen to more of Chris’ work and / or check out Freedom Principle’s website here for upcoming gigs!

Aaand, we’re back…

After much frustration we are now back online.  So, what can you expect from our wonderful (yet temporary until we get our new, new upgraded site) beautiful web page?  Well, for the latest event just click on what’s on for a run down of the coming events via remote goat.  Unsure where we are?  Again, look to the top and click “Where are we?” for a map courtesy of google.

Also be sure to expect a rolling news feed on here itself with news of new drinks coming in, our upcoming new kitchen as well as event highlights… and perhaps some photographic evidence of people enjoying them too much.  No, no.  I kid.  Maybe.
