Blank Media Kick Off The Year With a Brrrrrrr…
Having almost arrived to the end of January it doesn’t seem the chills are going to go away anytime soon. However, to warm your cockles the Blank Media Collective are organising a arty fare / DJ musics / EP launch / raffle-tastic fund raising affair.
Starting at 2pm, Saturday the 9th of February, Blank Space will be transformed further into a visual affair with street artists taking at the building whilst other warm themselves with hot toddies (they didn’t mention those but there will be drinks) and the glow of each others cheeks. Here’s what they had to say about the upcoming event:
“Blank Media Collective will be kicking off their 2013 programme by holding a public fundraising event at BLANKSPACE, their creative hub in the city centre, on 9th February 2013 to raise funds to support the ongoing work of the organisation.
The Blank Media Collective Winter Warmer will kick off at 2pm, and will host an impressive array of art, music, crafts and exciting collaborations – a schedule so jam-packed, it’s set to continue into the small hours of the morning. Expect everything from participatory graffiti workshops (with local graffiti specialists Dirty Works) to hands-on lessons in up-cycling and clothes swaps with eco-fashionista collective Stitched Up!
Manchester’s most talked about electronic music upstart (murmur) will be launching his new EP on Pretty Neat Records, supported by exciting special guest DJs and artists (TBC). Burgeoning street artist Akse (you may have seen his Anthony Hopkins portrait in Manchester’s Northern Quarter recently) will be painting a large scale mural on the side of the building.
There will be a raffle with some big prizes from Cornerhouse, Sound Control and Soup Kitchen; including a ticket to this year’s FutureEverything in Manchester, and a two day pass to Threshold Festival in Liverpool.
Blank Media Collective will be putting money raised at the event toward an exciting series of masterclasses, supported by Arts Council England. The masterclasses, set to kick off in March, will involve 4 nationally recognised artists from the worlds of literature, illustration, fine art and theatre coming to Manchester to share their know-how on making it in the creative industries with our local community. There will be a callout from Blank Media Collective for participation in the one-to-one and small group sessions”
You can find more information on their website haaaar and their facebook event thing haaaar. Oh, they have a facebook page too.

Little bit of (wonky) footage showing Kay in action at last nights whisky tasting! Probably should have told Kay I was going to film him. Oh well, live and learn.
